The Home Office has announced an additional £3million funding, part of which will be used to provide police patrols on the routes to and from school, to ensure that young people feel safer walking home from school.
The money will be allocated to the 10 tackling knives action programme areas - London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, West Midlands, Essex, Lancashire, South Wales, Thames Valley, W Yorkshire, and Nottingham. In addition it will also provide support for the safer schools partnerships.
