Greater Manchester - 120 additional yellow school buses

Secretary of State for Transport Ruth Kelly has announced this week (9th June 2008) that Greater Manchester's TIF bid for congestion charging combined with public transport improvements has been given the go ahead.

The £2.8 bn package includes £1.5 bn funding from the DfT, over and above existing funding for Greater Manchester. The proposals for public transport include up to 22 miles of new Metrolink lines, improvements to local trains, buses, park and ride, ticketing and interchanges.
