Britain: School transport and seat belts

Posted on 28/04/2008 by Sian

The Department for Transport is presently considering responses to its consultation on regulations to require children under 14 years of age to use seat belts in buses and coaches where they are fitted. In response to a question by Bob Russell MP, Jim Fitzpatrick confirmed there are no plans for legislation to require that all vehicles used for school transport must have seat belts fitted - that can already be achieved by school authorities for contracted vehicles.
